Re-Engineered Mattison Vertical Disc Grinder
Mattison Grinder Specialist
When Mattison Machine Works went out of business C&B Machinery took advantage to utilize the talented employees that were suddenly available and started a new division specializing in the remanufacturing of Mattison grinders. The core design of a Mattison vertical grinder is optimal for heavy stock removal, high production volumes, and high precision when grinding the faces on a dedicated product.
C&B Machinery has re-engineered the Mattison feed systems to incorporate the latest technologies such as a servo-driven ball screw feed system. This also eliminated a majority of the complex mechanical moving components which results in much less maintenance-related downtime.
CB5V-100-M
(Mattison 100C-5)
C&B remanufactured this machine to grind very large, non-coplanar connecting rods. This machine was designed for hand or robot load. The challenge was high stock removal along with a tight tolerance all while controlling the step relationships. The tooling was designed to allow for a quick part changeover.

CB4V-72-M
(Mattison 72C-4)
C&B reworked the Mattison 72C-4 to grind connecting rods. This machine type was ideal for that project because this type of machine offers a tight tolerance control by having one side of the part fixed to the rigid work table. Stepped or equal side rods can be ground on this machine by simply swapping out the tooling fixtures on the table.
